Gas has provided one of the safest methods for food processing, among which is Nitrogen. Nitrogen is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic pure element, and can reach a temperature of -196℃ in liquid form. It can be applied to food manufacture and storage, and is vastly applied to beverage industry, food (package) filling, etc.

In the food industry, nitrogen can be applied to the following processed food procedures:

  • Food Packaging : such as peanut packaging, to avoid peanuts turning sour; nut-product packaging, increases shelf-life; milk powder, to avoid spoiling; cookies, to avoid flavor-turning and softening.
  • Rapid freezing of expensive products for prolonged keep: such as seafood, meat, poultry, fruits, vegetables, pastries, desserts, ice cream, etc.
  • Butter/cream production
  • Processed cooking oil
  • Processed milk powder
  • Oil drying
  • Reduce dissolved oxygen from processed oil
  • Coating of flammable or combustible powder, such as flour
  • Coating of nitrogen during production, to prevent oxidization and other reactions.
  • Nitrogen separation used in food packaging to increase food preservation.
  • Alter high viscous products, such as highly concentrated juice.
  • Transfer of oxidize-prone or delicate/fine matters to avoid oxidization or damage caused by traditional transfer pump.
  • Transfer of pharmaceuticals to avoid contaminations.

By adding carbon dioxide into beverages, considering its water-solubility characteristics, creates carbonic acid with water and enhances tastes, such as soda, coke, beer, etc. Linde LienHwa has passed SGS certification in 2011.09.16, being Taiwan’s first gas manufacturer to acquire Food Safety Certification 22000, which is invaluable for raw materials control in order to ensure the safest products served.
